Louise Matthews is the former Head of Every Child Counts at Edge Hill University where she led a team of National Advisers in developing mathematical interventions to meet the needs of vulnerable children and in providing professional development programmes for trainers, teachers and teaching assistants.

She has over 30 years’ experience in primary education. Many of those years were spent in Leeds, as a teacher, deputy headteacher, mathematics consultant, school improvement partner and primary strategy adviser. She is passionate about mathematics and believes that all children can learn mathematics and have the right to do so. She has an MA in early mathematics intervention and her particular interests are in developing children’s mathematical thinking and talking.

Louise Langford is an accredited NCETM PD Lead and experienced Mathematics subject leader, with an MA in Education (Early Mathematics Intervention). She has specialist knowledge of the pedagogy associated with working with children experiencing difficulties in maths, is a trained Numbers Count Teacher and holds BDA Approved Teacher Status Dyscalculia. Louise successfully works alongside teachers at all stages in their career, providing and leading professional development opportunities to support school improvement.
